ABOUT THE MUSIC

Les Primitives du Futur is a French band who like to refer to their music as “World Musette”. Gathered together by Dominic Cravic they are a group of heterogevlous musicians. Their most famous member is a comic book artist, the underground legend Robert Crumb.

Their repetoire is 20’s dance tunes or something
that sounds like it; in other words, new tunes dressed in old styles.

Many various influences are in those songs; jazz, waltz, swing, gipsy music, musette, blues etc.

The surprising mix of instruments, a singing saw and a hawaian guitar, gives their music an endearing feeling.

“C’est la Goutte d’Or qui fait Déborder la Valse” combines musette and waltz with an exotic touch

THE MUSIC IN THE FILM

The whole story is based on a music piece from the band “Les Primitives du Futur”. There are no dialogs in the movie and the tune is the only soundtrack. It’s a joyfull mood influences the atmosphere of the movie; it’s not dark anymore although the hero is a pirat in the land of the dead. The characters performs a choreography to the music.
